Omega Equine Ultra Oil 5L
Omega Equine Ultra Oil – 5 Litre
Most feed oils are one oil. Ultra Oil is a blend, and the point of blending is the fatty acid profile you end up with: Omega declare 461g of omega-3, 142g of omega-6 and 181g of omega-9 per litre, which puts the omega-3 to omega-6 ratio at better than three to one — the opposite way round to the cereal-heavy diets most working horses are on. Vitamin E is added at 1100iu per kilo, which matters because feeding oil raises the requirement for it.
Five litres at the maintenance rate of 30 to 60ml a day is a long run for one horse. It is fed for condition, coat and slow-release energy rather than as a quick fix, and like any oil it wants introducing gradually so the hindgut keeps up.
Performance & Benefits
- Declared analysis: omega-3 461g per litre, omega-6 142g per litre, omega-9 181g per litre.
- Crude oils and fats 99.9% — effectively all oil, with vitamin E added at 1100iu/kg.
- Flaxseed oil for cellular health, coat and joints, and for managing lactic acid build-up in muscle.
- Coconut oil, whose fats are stored and released slowly as fuel, reducing lactate produced during work.
- Avocado oil, which Omega link to sustaining joint health, and rosemary oil as an antioxidant.
- Sea buckthorn oil, carrying vitamins A, B, C, D, E and K alongside flavonoids and carotenoids.
Suitable For
- Horses needing condition and coat quality without a large cereal feed.
- Horses in work wanting slow-release energy rather than quick starch energy.
- Poor doers and horses coming back into condition.
- Yards feeding oil to several horses, where a 5 litre container is the sensible size.
- Not the right answer for a laminitic or insulin-resistant horse without veterinary and nutritional advice, even though oil itself is low in starch.
Feeding
- Maintenance: 30–60ml daily.
- Periods of stress or elevated workload: 80–160ml daily.
- Introduce it gradually over a week or two so the hindgut adapts.
- Pour over the feed and mix through; shake the container before measuring.
- At maintenance, 5 litres is roughly 80 to 160 days for one horse.
