Likit Granola Horse Treat – Apple, 550g

The Granola is the hard one. Where a standard Likit is a soft glucose lick that a keen horse can demolish in an afternoon, the Granola is glucose syrup pressed together with kibbled maize, whole wheat, bruised barley and rolled oats into a block that has to be worked at. The apple version carries Likit's apple flavouring over that grain base, which tends to suit horses that find the plain molasses version too sweet.

It drops into a Likit Holder or the top of a Boredom Breaker using the same fitting as a 650g Likit, so if you already own either toy this is a straight swap. Likit's own trials had blocks lasting up to 10 days. That is a trial figure rather than a promise — a genuinely food-motivated horse will be quicker.

Feeding

• Press the block into a Likit Holder or the top section of a Boredom Breaker. It uses the same fitting as a standard 650g Likit.
• It does not fit the Tongue Twister or the Boredom Buster, which take 250g Little Likits.
• Hang the holder freely, away from the stable walls, so the horse cannot pin the block and bite at it.
• Likit's trials showed a block lasting up to 10 days, though a determined, food-motivated horse will get through it faster.
• Likit publish no daily feeding limit for the Granola refill. Fed alongside forage, with clean water always available.

Care & Caution

• At 17.6% sugar and 14.3% starch this is a high-sugar, high-starch treat. Keep it away from laminitic, insulin-resistant and Cushing's horses.
• The block is deliberately rock hard. It is not suitable for a horse with poor teeth or a sore mouth.
• Hang it clear of walls and fixtures. A block pinned against a wall gets bitten rather than licked, which defeats the design and wastes it.
• A complementary treat, not a feed. It does not replace any part of the ration.
