KM Elite Double Braided Cotton Lead Rope – 7ft, Orange
The orange version of KM Elite's double braided cotton lead: 7ft, 2.13m, of round tightly braided cotton with a brass plated swivel bolt snap. Orange reads clearly at a distance, which earns its keep on a busy yard where four horses are tied along the same wall.
Cotton is the reason to buy this rather than a poly rope — it is softer to hold in cold weather and far kinder to bare hands if a horse throws its head. The trade-off is that cotton holds water, so it wants hanging up to dry rather than being dropped in a wet corner of the barn.
Performance & Benefits
- 7ft (2.13m), the general-purpose length for leading and tying up.
- Round cotton double braid, with a core inside a braided outer sleeve.
- Orange is easy to identify at a distance and against most coat colours.
- Brass plated swivel bolt snap that turns to keep the rope from twisting.
- Kinder on bare hands in winter than a synthetic braid.
Suitable For
- Daily leading, bringing in and turning out.
- Tying up for grooming, clipping and the farrier.
- Busy yards where several ropes hang on the same rail.
- Anyone who prefers a bright rope for visibility on a road or in a dark barn.
- Not enough rope for in-hand work at a distance — the KM Elite Double Braided Cotton Lead Rope 10ft is the longer option.
How to Use
- Clip the swivel bolt snap to the back ring of the headcollar, under the jaw.
- Lead from the near side, hand about 30cm below the clip, spare rope folded flat rather than looped.
- Wash in warm water with a mild detergent and hang the rope up to dry fully.
- Do not store it damp; cotton left wet goes stiff and smells.
Specification
- Length 7ft (2.13m).
- Round cotton, tight double braided construction, orange.
- Brass plated swivel bolt snap, corrosion resistant and swivelling.
- SKU 1001915. Barcode 5060171233749.
- KM Elite publish no rope diameter, weight or breaking strain for this lead, so none is stated here.
Care & Caution
- Never wrap the rope around your hand, wrist or waist. Cotton grips skin and will burn it if the horse pulls away.
- Tie to a loop of breakable baler twine with a quick-release knot, never directly to a gate, ring or post.
- Do not leave a horse tied unattended, and do not leave the rope clipped on in the field, where a leg can go through it.
