Keratex Coconut Oil Hoof Balm – Clear, 400g

Keratex build this balm from three things and nothing else: coconut oil to nourish the horn, beeswax to hold the oil against the wall and give the shine, and tea tree oil for its natural cleansing and astringent effect. It is a conditioner rather than a sealant, so it feeds the outer wall without laying down the heavy, airless film that traditional hoof grease leaves behind.

The clear version is the one to reach for on a light or striped hoof, or on any foot where you want the horn’s own colour to show. Keratex also make it in black for showing dark feet. It won an innovation award at BETA International in 2017, which for a hoof dressing says something about how unusual a simple three-ingredient balm had become.

How to Use

• Pick out and brush the foot clean and dry before applying.
• Work the balm over the hoof wall with a brush or a gloved hand; it softens with the warmth of the hand.

• Replace the lid firmly — an open tub of balm collects bedding and grit.

Care & Caution

• Contains tea tree oil. Keep the tub and the treated hoof away from cats and dogs, which are far more sensitive to tea tree than horses are.
