Fat balls are the food squirrels go for hardest, and an open fat ball feeder can be stripped overnight. This Heritage feeder holds three Henry Bell fat balls inside a strong decorative cage: small birds get through the gaps to feed, while squirrels and the larger birds that bully a feeder are kept outside.
It is part of Henry Bell's Heritage Collection, made in durable aluminium with the antique gold and bronze finish, and it has a robust easy-lift lid so reloading takes seconds. Three balls is a sensible load for a caged feeder — enough to last, few enough that they are eaten before they soften.

How to Use
- Lift the lid, drop in up to three fat balls and close it.
- Hang where squirrels cannot leap onto it from a branch, roof or fence.
- Remove any crumbs or softened fat at each refill.
- Wash with warm water and a bird-safe hygiene spray every week or two and dry before reloading.
- In warm weather load one or two balls at a time so none go soft.

Care & Caution
- Never put fat balls in their plastic nets into any feeder. Nets trap feet and beaks; Henry Bell fat balls are sold net-free for that reason.
- In hot weather fat softens and can smear onto feathers. Feed fewer balls in summer and keep the feeder shaded.
