Carr Day & Martin Flygard Extra Strength Insect Repellent – 1 Litre

Carr & Day & Martin Flygard Extra Strength – 1 Litre

Flygard Extra Strength carries 20% DEET, the highest concentration in the CDM repellent range. CDM describe DEET — diethyl-m-toluamide — as an effective chemical developed by the Armed Forces to repel insects, and it is the one to reach for when a citrus-based repellent has stopped holding.

Protection is instant on application, with twice-daily use recommended for maximum cover. The litre is the larger of the two sizes CDM list and is intended as a refill: decant into a clean trigger bottle, or apply it with a cloth to a horse that will not stand for a spray.

Performance & Benefits

• 20% DEET, the highest concentration in the Flygard range.
• CDM describe DEET as an effective chemical developed by the Armed Forces to repel insects.
• Maximum protection from midges and biting insects.
• Instant protection on application, with no waiting period.
• A litre lasts through a bad midge summer, or across several horses.
• Can be sprayed or wiped on with a cloth, which suits a horse that dislikes a spray.

Suitable For

• Horses and ponies under heavy midge and fly pressure.
• Wet, sheltered fields and evening turnout, when midges are at their worst.
• Yards treating several horses daily through the summer.
• Anyone who has found a lighter citrus repellent is not holding long enough.
• A horse that will not tolerate a spray at all is better served by Flygard Extra Strength Gel, which is applied by hand.

How to Use

• Shake well before use.
• Spray liberally onto the horse, or apply with a cloth, taking care to avoid the eyes and mucous membranes.
• Apply twice daily for maximum protection.
• Decant from the litre into a clean trigger bottle for day-to-day use.

Specification

• 1 litre. CDM list Flygard Extra Strength in 500ml and 1 litre.
• Active ingredient: DEET (diethyl-m-toluamide) at 20%.
• SKU 1006532, barcode 5021544400120.
• CDM publish no full ingredient list beyond the DEET concentration, and no duration of protection per application, so neither is stated here.

Care & Caution

• Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
• On first use, test on a small area of skin to establish suitability before treating the whole horse.
• Avoid the eyes, the nostrils and any mucous membrane.
• Do not apply over broken skin, fresh clip lines or sore, fly-bitten areas.
• CDM publish no withdrawal period and no FEI position for the Extra Strength spray. They state for the Extra Strength Gel that DEET is not on the FEI banned or controlled list; check with your governing body before relying on that here.
