Equine America Biotin Xtra Powder 2.5kg Horse & Pony Hoof Support Supplement
£23.95
Equine America Biotin Xtra Powder – 2.5kg
A hoof supplement supplying 20mg of biotin, 100mg of zinc and 900mg of DL-methionine in a 50g daily serving, on an alfalfa and calcium carbonate base. Those three go together for a reason: biotin is the vitamin the horn-building cells need, methionine supplies the sulphur that cross-links keratin, and zinc is the cofactor without which neither does much.
MSM adds a second bio-available sulphur source, and brewers yeast contributes natural B vitamins. It is pitched as the everyday, affordable option rather than the high-dose one — at 20mg of biotin it sits at the sensible maintenance end. BETA NOPS and UFAS accredited, though note the MSM content is a threshold substance under the Rules of Racing.
Performance & Benefits
- A full 20mg of biotin per 50g daily serving, to maintain hoof horn quality.
- DL-methionine at 900mg per serving supports keratin production.
- Zinc at 100mg per serving, the cofactor for keratin formation.
- MSM as an additional bio-available source of sulphur.
- Calcium from two sources — alfalfa and calcium carbonate.
- Brewers yeast supplies natural B vitamins for hoof, skin and coat.
- BETA NOPS and UFAS accredited.
Suitable For
- Horses and ponies with poor quality, cracked or slow-growing hooves.
- Everyday maintenance of feet that are already reasonable.
- Owners wanting an affordable, palatable hoof supplement.
- For a foot in genuine trouble, Equimins Hoof Mender 75 supplies nearly four times the biotin.
Feeding
- Horses and large ponies: 50g per day. Smaller ponies: 30g per day.
- Do not exceed 50g per day except on professional advice.
- Mix into the daily feed.
- Hoof horn grows slowly — allow six to nine months before judging the result.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: calcium carbonate, dried alfalfa, dextrose, yeast products, vegetable oil, methylsulphonylmethane (MSM). 2.5kg.
- Per 50g serving: biotin 20mg, zinc 100mg, methionine 900mg.
- Additives per kg: biotin 400mg, zinc (as zinc oxide) 2,000mg, DL-methionine 18,000mg.
Care & Caution
