Carr Day & Martin Lavender Liniment – 500ml

Carr & Day & Martin Lavender Liniment – 500ml

CDM describe this as a dual purpose liniment and rinse for swellings and tight, stiff muscles, and the dual part is genuine: rubbed on neat before exercise it warms cold, stiff muscles and joints, while diluted in a bucket it becomes a wash. Menthol is what gives it both a heating and a cooling character depending on how it is used.

The other named ingredients each do a job CDM set out plainly — witch hazel and arnica for bruising and inflammation, spike lavender and rosemary to increase circulation. No percentages and no full ingredient list are published, so none is stated here.

Performance & Benefits

• Dual purpose: a liniment rubbed on neat, and a wash once diluted.
• Menthol gives both a heating and a cooling effect depending on how it is applied.
• Witch hazel and arnica are named by CDM for bruising and inflammation.
• Spike lavender and rosemary are named for increasing circulation.
• Diluted in cold water it doubles as a rinse that removes grease and sweat.
• One bottle covers warming up before work and washing off afterwards.

Suitable For

• Cold, stiff muscles and joints that need warming before exercise.
• Tight backs and quarters after hard work.
• Swellings and bruising, as part of a routine your vet is content with.
• Washing down after competition, diluted in a bucket.
• Broken skin and open wounds are not suitable — the CDM Wound Cream is the product for those.

How to Use

• Neat: rub directly onto cold, stiff muscles and joints before exercise to warm them up.
• Diluted in hot water: makes a warm, soothing wash for tired muscles.
• Diluted in cold water: makes a refreshing rinse that also removes grease and sweat.
• CDM publish no dilution rate, so start weak in the bucket and judge it by the horse.

Care & Caution

• A warming liniment can mask heat and pain in a leg. If a limb is hot or swollen, or the horse is lame, have a vet look at it before rubbing anything on.
• Wear gloves if you are applying it to several horses in succession.
• CDM publish no withdrawal period and no FEI or BHA position for this product; check with your governing body before competing on a treated horse.
