Lamb Casserole is the highest-protein tray in the Petite range at 11%, and the cleanest in composition: 66% lamb and no second animal protein except the 0.1% green lipped mussel powder and a little salmon oil. For a small dog on an elimination diet that is the point of it — one named meat, and a short list behind it.

Lamb is also the protein most often reached for when a dog has already been through chicken and beef without success. Fat is modest at 6% and moisture 77%, so the tray is filling rather than rich, which suits a small dog being fed several trays a day.

Feeding

• Canagan's daily guide: 3kg dog 2–3 trays, 5kg 3–4, 7kg 4–5, 10kg 5–6, 12kg 6–7.
• Introduce it over a few days, raising the proportion of new food each day.
• Serve at room temperature — a tray straight from the fridge smells of very little.
• Refrigerate once opened and use within two days.
• Change the amount by about 10% either way as condition dictates, and keep water available.
