The Toothbrush is the shape that carries independent accreditation. The Veterinary Oral Health Council lists "WHIMZEES Toothbrush Dental Dog Treats, all sizes" as accepted for both plaque and tartar control, awarded in 2019 — a seal granted only on submitted trial evidence, and one most dental chews on the shelf do not hold.

The bristle-like nubs are the reason it works: they reach the tooth surface and the gum line as the dog bites down. This is the Large, 173 kcal, for dogs of 18–27kg. Whimzees make it in five sizes, XS through XL.

• One correctly sized chew per day, which is the rate the VOHC acceptance is based on.
• 173 kcal per Large chew.
• Whimzees size their chews by bodyweight: XS 2–7kg, S 7–11kg, M 11–18kg, L 18–27kg, XL over 27kg.

Composition & Analysis

• Composition: potato starch, glycerin, powdered cellulose, lecithin, yeast, malt extract, sweet lupine meal, annatto extract colour, alfalfa extract.
• Typical analysis: crude protein 1.1%, fat content 2.0%, crude fibre 7.2%, crude ash 2.4%, moisture 12%.
• Nine ingredients, including annatto extract as a colour — the Toothbrush recipe is not identical to the Alligator or Hedgehog.
• Whimzees describe the range as natural and grain-free, excepting the Ricebone shape.

Care & Caution

• Whimzees state these are not suitable for dogs under nine months old, or for any dog under 2.3kg.
• Whimzees warn that swallowing any item without thoroughly chewing it may be harmful or even fatal — stay in the room and take the last short piece away.
• Feed one correctly sized chew a day only, and always leave fresh water down.
