Fifteen Plus is Protexin's supplement for horses of fifteen years and over, and it is broader than the rest of their equine range: gut, immune system and joints in one powder rather than a single target. Ground linseed and alfalfa carry it, with glucosamine and beta glucans, garlic, and a heavy antioxidant loading of vitamin C and vitamin E at 18,000mg/kg each.

Behind that sits the same Protexin approach as their gut products — a live Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 2 x 10¹¹ CFU/kg with the Preplex prebiotic, aimed at getting more out of forage in a horse whose digestive efficiency has dropped. Protexin claim support for mobility, fibre fermentation, hoof quality and oxidative stress; they do not claim to treat arthritis, and neither do we.

Feeding

• Under 300kg bodyweight: 15g daily, one level scoop.
• 300–600kg: 30g daily, two level scoops.
• Over 600kg: 45g daily, three level scoops.
• A 900g tub therefore lasts about 30 days for a typical 500kg horse, 60 days for a small pony and 20 days for a heavy horse.
• Mix into the daily feed. A scoop is included.
