Little Likit – Carrot, 250g

Carrot in the 250g size is the sensible first Little Likit: familiar enough that a horse will start on it without persuasion, and small enough that you have not wasted much if it does not. The 250g block is what the Tongue Twister and the Boredom Buster are built to take, one or two at a time.

The formulation is identical to the 650g Likit — glucose, dextrose, colours, flavourings and potassium sorbate — just in a smaller block. Likit's limit is one Little Likit per horse per day.

Feeding

• Fits the Tongue Twister and the Boredom Buster — one or two at a time in each — and the ball section of the Boredom Breaker.
• It does not fit the Likit Holder. That holder takes the 650g Likit refill only, so buy the 650g size if the Likit Holder is what you own.
• Likit cap intake at one Little Likit per horse per day.
• Hang the toy freely at wither height, away from walls, so the horse has to work at it rather than trap it.
• A complementary treat, fed alongside normal forage. Clean fresh water at all times.

• Likit describe the lick as glucose based — in their words, a simple form of sugar much like that found in grass.
• Likit publish no analytical constituents for the Little Likit range: no protein, oil, fibre, ash, sugar or starch percentage is given, so none is stated here.
• Analysis figures quoted on some retail listings are not Likit's own and are not repeated here.

Care & Caution

• This is a sugar lick. It is not suitable for laminitic, insulin-resistant or Cushing's (PPID) horses, or any horse on a restricted-sugar diet.
• Likit publish no sugar percentage for the flavoured range, so the sugar load cannot be quantified. Treat it as a sweet treat, not as a neutral boredom aid.
• Stay within Likit's own limit of one Little Likit a day. Good-doers and native ponies put on weight on licks quickly.
• Check the holder or toy and its rope each time you refill, and take it down if your horse bites lumps off the lick rather than licking it.
