Equine America Cushins Pellets – 1kg

A pelleted supplement aimed at the endocrine system, and specifically at the pituitary gland, which is where the trouble starts in an older pony that has begun to grow a long curly coat, drop topline and get footy every spring. Chastetree berry, Agnus castus, is the traditional herb fed for this, and it heads the ingredient list here.

Around it sit cinnamon bark and magnesium, both fed for insulin and blood sugar regulation, vitamin E at 6,667mg per kg with rosehips and melon pulp for antioxidant support, biotin, MSM and methionine for the feet, and a live yeast with prebiotic fibre for the hindgut. It is BETA NOPS and UFAS accredited.

Feeding

• Larger ponies and horses — first 14 days: 30g per day. Thereafter: 15g per day.
• Smaller ponies — first 14 days: 20g per day. Thereafter: 10g per day.
• Feed alone or mixed into a small fibre feed.
• At the maintenance rate a 1kg tub gives around 66 days for a horse.

• Composition: chastetree berries, soya hulls, unmolassed beet pulp, dried alfalfa, cinnamon bark powder, magnesium oxide, MSM, rosehips, ginseng, salt, melon juice and pulp. 1kg.
• Per kg: vitamin E 6,667mg, vitamin B6 1,000mg, folic acid 3,333mg, biotin 667mg, DL-methionine 10,000mg.
• Zootechnical: Saccharomyces cerevisiae MUCL 39885 at 8.33 x 10^11 CFU/kg.

Care & Caution

• Do not feed to pregnant mares without veterinary advice. Chastetree berry acts on hormone pathways.
• Chastetree berry may interfere with the reliability of some diagnostic tests for PPID. Tell your vet the horse is on it before blood is taken.
