As the weather turns colder and the nights draw in, you may choose to bring your horse in at night rather than leaving them out. Of course, this often means extra time spent on the dreaded mucking out! By switching to BedSoft bedding this autumn and winter, you can save both time and money. Not only is it cost-effective in today’s market, but it is also highly absorbent, low-dust, bio-secure, biodegradable once on the muck heap, and wonderfully comfortable. There are so many benefits to this bedding and it comes in 4 different forms to suit all types of horses!

Bedsoft Bio - Made from oil seed rape straw, designed to be highly absorbent, low in dust, biodegradable, and easy to muck out. It breaks down quickly on the muckheap, helping to minimise disposal costs, and undergoes a state-of-the-art dust extraction process before being treated with antibacterial, antiviral, and insect-repellent agents. Infused with eucalyptus citriodora oil, which is rich in citronellal, it offers a fresh aroma. This treatment makes the bedding bio-secure while naturally discouraging bed eating.

Bedsoft Original -  Made from premium-quality wheat straw, offering a soft, cosy, and comfortable bed. It is easy to muck out, contains very little dust, and is less palatable than untreated wheat straw. To enhance quality and safety, the product undergoes an advanced dust extraction process before being treated with antibacterial, antiviral, and insect-repellent agents.

Bedsoft Blend - Is created from a mix of 80% BedSoft Original and 20% BedSoft, using wheat straw harvested in Essex and processed with a unique shredding and chopping machine to produce a soft, fluffy bed. The finished product then undergoes an advanced dust extraction process before being treated with antibacterial, antiviral, and insect-repellent agents, ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.

Bedsoft Shavings -  Made from a variety of soft wood predominantly from spruce, which creates a premium practical low dust shavings bed. This bedding is a stunning bright beige colour with a lovely dry woody aroma, which both looks and smells impressive.

With the exceptionally dry summer, many horse owners are concerned about the availability of forage this winter. Reduced rainfall has led to poor grass growth, meaning many farmers were unable to produce as much hay as in previous years.

HaySoft offers a reliable solution with a wide variety of high-quality bagged haylage and hay, available through selected stockists across the South East of England. Their haylage is carefully processed to be very low in dust, making it ideal for supporting respiratory health. With three distinct haylage options, HaySoft provides suitable forage for different types of horses and ponies, ensuring you can find the right match for your horse’s needs:

Haysoft Original Haylage - HaySoft Original is made from premium cut rye grass and is tightly packaged when it’s moisture content reaches levels of 30-35%. This method prevents the formation of dust and spores. HaySoft Original is then mildly fermented in order to preserve nutrients and create moist, nutritious and dust-free forage that does not require soaking. Ideal for horses and ponies in light to medium work.

Haysoft High-Fibre Haylage - A premium rye and timothy blend haylage from their Essex family farm. Cut early for maximum nutrition, it provides higher levels of vitamins, minerals, and protein than hay alone. Suitable for a wide range of horses and ponies, especially those in light work.

Haysoft Timothy Haylage - Made from pure timothy grass, naturally low in sugar, making it ideal for laminitic horses, ponies, and good doers. HaySoft Timothy is harvested later than rye grass usually mid to late June. Timothy has a different nose to rye grass which in turn makes it ideal for fussy feeders and is highly palatable.

Haysoft HayBags Haylage - Premium Essex-grown hay with excellent nutrition and taste. Low-dust processing supports animal respiratory health. Packed in biodegradable, recyclable packaging for sustainability. Neatly packed for easy storage, transport, and clean feeding areas.

When feeding, remember to use a double-netted haynet or one with small holes to slow your horse’s eating and help them make the most of their forage. For horses already at a healthy weight, take care not to overfeed.

The full Bedsoft & HaySoft range is available at all Animall stores. Ask a member of staff for guidance on which option will best suit your horse’s needs.
