Woof Wear Reflective Club Boot – Hi Vis Yellow, Small

Fluorescent and reflective are two different things, and this boot does both. The yellow itself is fluorescent, which means it works in daylight and in the flat grey light of a winter afternoon; the banding worked into the straps is retro-reflective, which means it throws light straight back at a headlight after dark. Yellow is the most conventional hi vis colour and the one most drivers register instantly.

Underneath, the protection is the standard Club Boot: a 7mm neoprene base with a padded PU strike pad over the inside face, absorbing the strike when the opposite hoof brushes past. In Small, Woof Wear's chart puts it on the front legs of ponies of 12.2–14.1hh, or the hind legs of smaller ponies of 10.0–13.1hh. Supplied as a pair.

Suitable For

• Front legs on ponies of 12.2–14.1hh.
• Hind legs on smaller ponies of 10.0–13.1hh.
• Road hacking, and any riding in low light or poor weather.
• Ponies that brush and need everyday leg protection as well as visibility.
• Not a tendon boot — no support and only limited cover behind the tendon. Use an open-fronted tendon boot for jumping.
• Too small in front for a pony over about 14.1hh; the Medium is next, or Medium Extra Wide for a broad native leg.

How to Use

• Fit with the strike pad against the inside of the leg, straps fastening front to back and outwards.
• Set the pad over the fetlock and lower cannon, with the top edge clear of the knee or hock.
• Fasten so the boot cannot rotate, but so a finger still passes under the top edge.
• Close all straps before washing. Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle spin with non-biological detergent.
• Do not tumble dry and do not leave in strong sunlight — fluorescent yellow is the quickest of the hi vis colours to go chalky.

Care & Caution

• Grit trapped under the neoprene is what rubs a leg raw, not the boot itself. Empty them out and check the skin every time.
• Neoprene traps heat, so use them for exercise and turnout rather than continuous wear.
• Reflective banding needs to be clean to work at all. Wash the boots, and treat hi vis as one part of being seen rather than the whole of it.
