A clear true red, listed by Woof Wear as Royal Red and sold here simply as Red. Like the rest of the Gel Fusion range it measures 60cm overall with the leather flapper counted, which puts it firmly in the hacking and general schooling bracket.

Red shows dirt less than the pale Fusion colours and photographs well, which matters if the whip is going in a set with red boots or a red saddlecloth. The gel handle is the same translucent TPR used across the range and grips best when it is slightly damp, not when it is greasy.

How to Use

• Hold it in the same hand as your rein, thumb over the top of the gel grip, flapper hanging behind your leg.
• Use it to confirm a leg aid the horse has ignored — one light tap, then reward the response. It is not a substitute for the leg.
• Change it to the other hand across the withers when you change the rein, rather than reaching over.
• Woof Wear's instruction is wipe clean only. Wipe the shaft and gel handle with a damp cloth and dry it off; do not soak it or put it in a wash.
• Store it hanging, or lying flat, rather than stood on the flapper.
