Supreme Tiny Friends Farm Gerty Guinea Pig Tasty Mix 850g

Supreme Gerty Guinea Pig Tasty Mix – 850g

850g is the smallest bag Supreme make of Gerty, and it goes quickly: a pair of adults on 50g each will be through it in nine days. That makes it a trial size or a travel size rather than a stocking-up size, and it is the one to buy if you are moving a guinea pig onto a new food and want to see whether it eats it before committing.

The advantage of a small bag with a guinea pig food is specific rather than general. Vitamin C is the one nutrient these animals cannot make for themselves, and it is also the one that degrades in storage — a bag that is finished in a fortnight delivers closer to the declared 420mg per kilogram than one opened for three months.

Performance & Benefits

• Stabilised vitamin C declared at 420mg per kg, eaten while it is fresh in a bag this size.
• Full-strength recipe — the same 16% protein and 8% fibre as the sack.
• No added sugar, with natural prebiotics included.
• Calcium 0.6% and phosphorus 0.5%, as published by Supreme.
• Small enough to take to a boarding or a holiday let without decanting.
• Low outlay for testing a new food on a fussy pig.

Suitable For

• A single guinea pig kept with company of another kind, or a pair for a short spell.
• Trialling Gerty before buying the 2.5kg bag.
• Taking away, or keeping a spare bag in reserve.
• Guinea pigs of all life stages, young through to elderly.
• Not intended for rabbits, hamsters or gerbils — Supreme make separate Tiny Friends Farm mixes for each of those.

Feeding

• 40–50g a day per adult guinea pig is Supreme's stated amount.
• One pig on 45g a day empties this bag in roughly 19 days; a pair on 50g each, in about nine.
• Feed unlimited hay and a daily handful of fresh vegetables alongside — the mix is not the whole diet.
• Provide clean drinking water at all times.
• Close the bag between meals and finish it promptly, because vitamin C falls away once a pack is opened.
