Stubbs Stallguard Plate S30PL - Wall Fixing Plate for a Stall Guard

The Stubbs Stallguard Plate S30PL is the wall fixing plate a stall guard attaches to. A stall guard across a stable or stall opening lets a horse look out and get some air without the door standing open, but it is only as safe as the two points it is anchored to, and a proper plate spreads that load into the wall instead of into a single screw.

A pair of plates, one either side of the opening, gives a stall guard a fixed and repeatable mounting at a matched height. Using purpose-made plates rather than improvising with hooks or rings also means the guard can be taken down and put back in seconds without disturbing the fixing itself.

How to Use

• Fit one plate each side of the opening, level with each other
• Set the height to suit the horse, high enough that a leg cannot be put over the guard
• Check the wall or frame is sound and able to take the pull of a guard before drilling
• Fixings may be needed and must be matched to brick, block, timber or frame; if in doubt, use a competent fitter
• Attach the stall guard so it can be released quickly in an emergency
• Check the guard hangs level and at the same height on both sides before use

Care & Caution

• Wipe clean and keep dry to prolong the life of the fitting
• Check the plate and its fixings regularly; a stall guard takes real pull when leaned on
• Refit or replace at once if a plate works loose in the wall
• A stall guard is not a substitute for a closed door for a horse that will push through or jump
• Do not leave a horse unattended behind a stall guard it is known to test
• Do not use the plate as a tie point for a horse
