A solid rubber dummy egg used to show hens where to lay. Placed in a nest box, it encourages birds to use the box rather than laying on the floor or in a hedge, which is particularly useful with pullets coming into lay or after a move to new housing.

The same dummy egg also helps break the habit of egg eating: a bird that pecks a solid rubber egg gets no reward, and the behaviour tends to fade. Because it is moulded rubber rather than china, it will not shatter if it is pecked hard or dropped on a concrete floor.

How to Use

• Place one dummy egg in each nest box you want the birds to use

• For egg eating, leave the dummy egg in and collect real eggs more frequently
• Wipe clean whenever the nest box is refreshed
