Scruffs' value placemat, and a different build from their cork mats: a polypropylene top sheet over an EVA foam base. The foam is what grips the floor, and it gives the mat a little cushioning as well, so a heavy ceramic bowl set down hard makes less noise on a tiled kitchen floor.

The print is a white marble veining, chosen to disappear against a pale worktop or a light floor rather than announce itself as pet equipment. At 40 x 30cm it holds a food and a water bowl side by side and keeps the spill from both off the boards.

How to Use

• Lay flat, foam side down, on a clean dry floor.
• Stand both bowls on the mat with a gap between them.
