Three dolomite ceramic pieces in a toadstool theme: a domed house to sleep and nest in, a water well with a small drinking opening, and a shallow food bowl. Ceramic is the right material for a rodent enclosure for one reason above all others — it cannot be gnawed apart. Plastic cage furniture gets chewed, and chewed plastic gets swallowed.

The house stands 13.5cm tall on an 11.5cm footprint, which is enough for a syrian hamster to turn round in and carry bedding into, and the weight of the bowl and the well stops either being tipped or shunted into a corner. All three pieces are hand painted and hand wash only.

How to Use

• Stand all three pieces on the solid cage floor, not on a shelf or platform.
• Bed the house into the substrate and let the pet carry its own nesting material inside.
• Empty and refill the well with fresh water daily.
• Hand wash only, in warm water with a mild detergent. Do not put any piece in a dishwasher.
• Dry fully before returning anything to the cage.

Care & Caution

• Ceramic chips. Check each piece for chips and cracks whenever you clean the cage and remove anything damaged — a sharp edge can cut a small animal and a loose fragment can be swallowed.
• These are heavy pieces. Site them on the cage floor, never on a shelf, ramp or platform from which they could fall onto an animal below.
