Omega Equine Linseed Meal
Micronised linseed meal is the mess-free way to feed linseed: no boiling, no soaking, no pan on the tack room stove. Omega cook the seed briefly with infrared heat, which they say removes the toxins raw linseed carries, then grind it to a meal that goes straight into the feed.
Omega declare 37% crude fats and oils against 23% crude protein and 7% crude fibre, which is why showing yards use it: calories and coat from oil rather than starch, plus enough protein to build topline. It is fed at 100g to 200g a day, so a 3kg pack lasts about 15 to 30 days.
Performance & Benefits
- Micronised and ready to feed — no boiling and no overnight soaking.
- Declared 37% crude fats and oils, high in omega-3.
- 23% crude protein, which supports topline rather than just fat cover.
- Low in starch and sugar, so it conditions without cereal-driven fizz.
- Omega name zinc, vitamin B1, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus and copper among its natural constituents.
- A fine meal that mixes cleanly into a damp feed.
Suitable For
- Showing horses being prepared for the ring.
- Horses needing condition and coat shine without excitable energy.
- Older horses that have lost cover and need calories from oil.
- Horses with sensitive metabolisms where low starch and sugar matters.
- For a yard feeding several horses, the Omega Equine Linseed Meal 20kg bag costs far less per kilogram.
Feeding
- Feed 100g to 200g daily, according to the size and condition of the horse or pony.
- At the top rate of 200g a day a 3kg pack lasts about 15 days; at 100g a day, about 30 days.
- Introduce gradually over a week or so, as with any change to the oil content of a ration.
- Ensure constant access to fresh, clean water.
- Omega supply linseed meal in 3kg and 20kg. This listing does not state a pack size in its title — check the variant before ordering.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: micronised linseed meal, 100%.
- Analytical constituents: crude protein 23%, crude oils and fats 37%, crude fibre 7%.
