Mollichaff Herbal – 12.5kg

Herbal takes the molassed straw chaff base and blends in garlic, mint, rosemary and golden rod. Garlic and mint are the traditional yard choices for horses that get thick in the wind or sour in the gut over summer, and the rosemary and golden rod are there as much to sharpen a jaded appetite as anything else.

The herbs do not change what the chaff is: 7.5 MJ/kg, 24% fibre, 0.8% oil, 0.5% starch. What sets Herbal apart from Original is the smell coming out of the bag and the 15–19% declared sugar, marginally below the plain chaffs but still firmly in molassed territory.

Feeding

• Mix through the daily bucket feed, dry or lightly damped, alongside good-quality forage.

• Introduce gradually over 7–10 days, particularly with a horse unused to garlic.
• Keep clean fresh water available at all times.

Care & Caution

• At 15–19% sugar this is a molassed chaff and is not suitable for horses or ponies with laminitis, EMS, PPID or insulin dysregulation.
• Garlic is fed widely but is not risk-free: prolonged high intakes have been linked to Heinz body anaemia in horses. Feed at sensible levels and take veterinary advice before long-term daily use.
• Check current FEI and BHA rules before feeding any herbal product to a horse competing under them.
