Lincoln Plastic Curry Comb - Black

Lincoln Plastic Curry Comb – Black

A moulded plastic curry comb with a strap across the back, used on the coat rather than on the brushes. The teeth are firmer than rubber, and that firmness is exactly what makes it the tool for dried mud in a winter coat.

The strap takes the weight so your hand stays relaxed, and the comb can be worked in circles at some speed without gripping anything. Treat it as a first-stage tool: bring the mud, grease and scurf to the surface with this, sweep it off with a dandy brush, then finish with a body brush.

Performance & Benefits

• Firm plastic teeth break up dried mud that a rubber comb slides over.
• Hand strap holds the comb in place without a grip, so long sessions tire the hand less.
• Circular action lifts grease and scurf to the surface for a brush to take away.
• Moulded in one piece, with nothing to work loose or rust.
• Rinses clean and dries quickly, unlike a fibre brush.

Suitable For

• Muddy, unclipped horses and ponies through the winter.
• The first stage of a full groom, before dandy and body brushes.
• Field-kept horses that come in caked rather than dusty.
• Too firm for thin-skinned, clipped or sensitive horses — the Lincoln Rubber Curry Comb is the gentler option for those.

How to Use

• Slip your hand under the strap so the comb sits flat against your palm.
• Work in small circles against the lie of the coat, on the fleshy parts of the body.
• Keep off the face, off the legs below knee and hock, and off any bony area.
• Knock the comb out against a wall regularly, standing away from the horse.
• Follow with a dandy brush to sweep off everything that has been raised.
