Lincoln Large Metal Curry Comb

Despite the name, a metal curry comb is not used on the horse. It is the tool that cleans the body brush: rows of fine metal teeth that the brush is drawn across to pull out the hair, dust and grease it has picked up off the coat.

Lincoln's large version has a wooden handle and enough width to clear a full-size body brush in a couple of strokes. Used properly it is what keeps a body brush working, because a brush loaded with old hair puts grease back on to the coat instead of taking it off.

How to Use

• Hold the comb in your spare hand with the teeth upwards.
• Draw the body brush firmly across the teeth after every few strokes on the horse.
• Knock the comb against a wall or the floor to clear the hair out of it.
• Do that facing away from the horse and out of the wind.
• Wipe the teeth and handle down at the end of the session and store it dry.
