Julius-K9 IDC Powerharness – Pink, Size 0

Size 0 is the first of the full-size IDCs, taking a chest of 58–76cm on a dog of about 14–25kg. In practice that is the spaniel, border collie, whippet and medium crossbreed bracket — the dogs that walk furthest and hardest on an ordinary week.

From Size 0 upwards the harness carries the top handle Julius-K9 built the range around. It is there to stop a dog at close quarters — at a kerb, in a lift, when another dog appears round a corner — and it locks down flat when it is not wanted, so there is less to snag.

How to Use

• Measure the chest circumference four fingers behind the front legs; Julius-K9 treat weight as a guide only and the chest measurement as the decision.
• Open the chest strap, drop the saddle over the back, bring the strap under and close it.
• Adjust so a flat hand passes under the strap and the saddle sits square rather than sliding to one side under the lead.
• Fold the handle down and secure it when you are not using it.
• Peel the side patches off and swap them when you want a different label; they hold on hook-and-loop.

Care & Caution

• The handle is for stopping and steadying a dog, not for lifting one. Taking a 25kg dog's weight on the handle loads the harness in a direction it was not built for.
• Take the harness off at home and in a crate; the patches and handle catch on bedding and wire.
• Julius-K9 make no crash-test claim for the IDC Powerharness, so do not use it as a car restraint. Use a restraint sold and tested for that.
• Check the fit after a coat change or a weight change. A harness that has gone loose lets a dog reverse out of it.
