Johnson's Honey Bars for Canaries

This is the small-bird end of Johnson's treat range: selected seeds enriched with honey, pressed onto a bar at 35g. There are no nuts and no dried fruit in it, which is deliberate — a canary's beak is built for seed, and the larger fruit and nut sticks are simply the wrong shape of food for it.

Fed hanging in the cage, it gives a canary something to work at between meals. Johnson's have been making bird treats alongside their veterinary line from Sutton Coldfield since 1921, and this is one of the oldest formats in the range.

Feeding

• A complementary treat, not a complete diet. Keep feeding the bird's usual seed mix.
• Hang the bar within reach of a perch.
• Feed sparingly — honey-bound seed is energy dense and a bird will keep going back to it.
• Fresh drinking water down at all times.
• Remove the remains once the bar is soiled or stripped.
