Forthglade Complete Senior Turkey with Butternut Squash & Vegetables – 395g Grain-Free Wet Dog Food

Forthglade Complete Senior Turkey with Butternut Squash & Vegetables – 395g

The senior recipe is built around the two things that change as a dog gets older: joints and waistline. Glucosamine and chondroitin are both doubled to 100mg/kg against the adult recipes, and crude fat drops to 6%, which puts the tray at 104 kcal per 100g rather than the 129 of the adult range.

Turkey runs at 60% with butternut squash at 6%, carrots and peas at 4% each. Salmon oil and linseed oil at 0.15% apiece bring omega-3 to a declared 0.25%. It is grain-free and complete, so an older dog can be fed on it and nothing else.

Performance & Benefits

• Glucosamine and chondroitin at 100mg/kg each — double the 50mg/kg in Forthglade's adult recipes.
• Crude fat at 6% and 104 kcal per 100g, lower than the adult range.
• Turkey at 60%, with butternut squash at 6% and carrots and peas at 4% each.
• Salmon oil and linseed oil at 0.15% each, giving a declared omega-3 content of 0.25%.
• Chicory root extract at 0.45%, well above the 0.05% in the adult sardine recipe.
• Grain-free, and a complete food in its own right.

Suitable For

• Older dogs slowing down, stiffening up, or gaining weight on their usual food.
• Dogs that need a lower-fat wet food without dropping to a diet ration.
• Feeding complete, or over a dry senior food as a topper.
• Dogs avoiding grain.
• Not for a growing dog or a hard-working adult — at 104 kcal per 100g it is too lean. The Forthglade adult sardine recipe at 129 kcal and 8% fat suits those better.

Feeding

• Forthglade's senior guide: a quarter to one and a quarter trays daily for a dog of 1–10kg.
• 10–25kg, one and a quarter to two and three quarter trays; 25–40kg, two and three quarters to three and three quarters.
• Over 40kg, three and three quarter trays a day upwards.
• Split it across two meals and adjust on body condition rather than the chart alone.
• Cover and refrigerate a part-used tray; fresh water at all times.
