Equus Health Dandelion Leaf – 1kg
Dandelion leaf is one of the cheapest and most widely fed of the single herbs, and Equus Health keep the description to what the leaf actually carries: iron, calcium, copper and magnesium, together with vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and D. Their two stated traditional uses are to promote urination and to support joints and mobility.
Horses on the whole eat it willingly, which is not true of every herb, and it mixes into a damp feed without fuss. At the published 30g a day, 1kg is a little over a month for one horse, so it is an inexpensive thing to trial before committing to a bigger bag.
Performance & Benefits
- 100% dried dandelion leaf, with nothing else added.
- Equus Health list it as high in iron, calcium, copper and magnesium.
- Also names vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and D among its constituents.
- Traditionally fed to promote urination.
- Traditionally fed for joints and mobility.
- Generally well accepted, so it rarely needs disguising in the feed.
Suitable For
- Horses and ponies in normal work, as a straightforward single-herb addition.
- Owners who prefer to feed named herbs individually rather than buy a blend.
- Horses being supported through a stiff spell, alongside the rest of the ration.
- Anyone wanting a low-cost herb to trial before buying larger quantities.
- Not a mineral balancer: a horse living on forage alone needs something like Equus Health Seaweed for broad vitamin and mineral cover.
Feeding
- Horses and ponies: approximately 30g daily.
- Equus Health give the same rate as three 50ml scoops per day.
- A single rate is published for horses and ponies, with no separate figure by height or bodyweight.
- Add to a slightly damp feed and mix through.
- 1kg at 30g a day is roughly 33 days for one horse.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: 100% dandelion leaves. 1kg pack.
- Equus Health name iron, calcium, copper and magnesium and vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and D, but publish no quantity for any of them, so no figures are stated here.
- No typical analysis is published — no protein, oil, fibre, sugar or ash percentages are declared by Equus Health, and none are invented here.
