Equimins Garlic Powder – 1kg
Pure dried garlic, ground to a powder, with nothing else in the tub. Garlic is one of the oldest things in a feed room and it is used for two quite different reasons: the essential oils are traditionally fed for respiratory and digestive support, and the smell that comes through the skin after a few weeks of feeding is widely reckoned to put biting insects off.
It is fed at roughly 20g a day — two of the enclosed measures — so a 1kg tub lasts a good while. It mixes readily into a damp feed, and its strong flavour makes it useful for masking the taste of something a horse has decided it does not want.
Performance & Benefits
- 100% pure garlic powder, with nothing else added.
- Traditionally used to support the digestive and respiratory systems.
- The garlic smell carried through the skin can deter biting insects.
- Strong flavour, useful for disguising the taste of medication in feed.
- Suitable for other domestic animals as well as horses.
Suitable For
- Horses and ponies fed garlic for traditional digestive and respiratory support.
- Horses through fly season, alongside a rug and a topical repellent.
- Masking the taste of a powder or medicine a horse is refusing.
- Not a substitute for veterinary treatment. A horse coughing at rest needs a vet, not garlic.
Feeding
- Feed 2 measures, approximately 20g, added to the feed daily.
- Measures are included in the tub.
- Mix into a slightly damp feed so the powder does not blow about.
- Store in a cool, dry place and replace the lid after use.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: 100% pure garlic powder. 1kg tub.
- Equimins publish no crude protein, oil or ash analysis for this product, so none is stated here.
Care & Caution
- Garlic fed in large quantities over long periods has been linked to Heinz body anaemia in horses. Stay within the stated rate and do not double up with a garlic-containing balancer or fly supplement.
- Garlic is a prohibited substance under some competition rules. Check the current lists before feeding to a competing horse.
