Chudleys Working Crunch – 14kg

Working Crunch is the hardest-working diet in the Chudleys range. Poultry meal leads the composition at a minimum 26%, and the analysis runs to 24% protein and 15% oil — the highest fat level Chudleys make. That combination is aimed at gundogs and other dogs doing long days, where the protein rebuilds muscle overnight and the fat carries the stamina.

The joint care package is the other half of the argument for it. Green lipped mussel and glucosamine sit in the composition alongside dandelion leaves, celery seed, burdock root, nettle leaves and devil's claw root, with salmon oil and full fat linseed supplying omega 3. It is a lot of diet for a dog that is not actually working.

Suitable For

• Gundogs, terriers and other dogs working full days through the season.
• Highly active adult dogs that drop condition on a maintenance food.
• Dogs whose joints take a hammering over rough ground.
• Kennels wanting one diet to carry a dog through a hard winter.
• Too rich for a resting or lightly worked dog, which will simply gain weight — Chudleys Classic or Chudleys Original suit those, and Chudleys Lite an overweight dog.

Feeding

• Small dogs, 5–10kg: 105–180g a day.
• Medium dogs, 10–25kg: 180–370g a day.
• Large dogs, 25–45kg: 370–580g a day.
• Very large dogs over 45kg: 580g and upwards.
• Feed the upper end in the working season and cut back out of it rather than switching diet mid-season.
• Two meals a day, not one large one before work. Fresh water at all times.

• Analytical constituents: protein 24.0%, oil 15%, crude fibres 3.25%, crude ash 6.25%.
• Chudleys declare no inclusion rate for the glucosamine or green lipped mussel in this diet, and no moisture, vitamin or trace element figures, so none are given here.
• Whole grain wheat is the second ingredient — this is not a wheat-free diet.

Care & Caution

• This diet contains devil's claw root, which is not advised for pregnant bitches or for dogs with gastric or duodenal ulceration.
• Speak to your vet before feeding it alongside anti-inflammatory or pain medication.
• At 15% oil it is easy to overfeed. A dog left on it through a quiet spring will put on condition quickly.
