This is the entire-cat recipe rather than a neutered one, and the difference shows in the numbers: 17.0% fat and 3,875 kcal/kg, against 13–14% and around 3,600 in the sterilised bags. Omega-3 sits at 0.5%, the highest of Carnilove's dry cat foods, from 26% fresh salmon and 1% salmon oil.

Fibre is correspondingly low at 2.2%, because a cat that is not fighting its appetite does not need bulking out. Turkey protein at 24% and hydrolysed turkey at 12% carry the rest of the amino acids. A 400g bag is five to eight days depending on the cat.

Feeding

• Carnilove's daily amounts for an adult cat: 2–3kg 40–45g, 3–5kg 50–70g, 5–7kg 70–85g, 7–9kg 85–100g.
• These are higher than the sterilised figures because the food itself is richer.
• Divide across two or more servings a day.
• Introduce over about a week alongside the old food.
• Adjust to body condition — you should feel the ribs easily under a thin covering.
