Ancol Heritage Padded Leather Whippet Collar Black 30-34cm Size 2

Ancol Heritage Padded Hound Collar – Black, Size 2 (30–34cm)

For a whippet with a thin coat, the Heritage Padded Hound Collar from Ancol puts extra padding under black genuine leather, cut in the classic hound shape that is wide at the front and narrower at the buckle.

Size 2 fits necks of 30 to 34cm, which suits many whippets, small lurchers and similar slim-necked hounds. Ancol describe it as strong and weather-resistant, with a premium leather finish.

Performance & Benefits

• Extra padding for comfort against a slim, thin-coated neck.
• Traditional hound shape, wide at the front to spread pressure.
• Genuine leather for a strong, long-lasting collar.
• Strong, weather-resistant construction for regular walks.
• Buckle fastening with a D-ring for the lead.
• Packed in recycled and recyclable packaging.

Suitable For

• Necks measuring 30 to 34cm.
• Many whippets, small lurchers and similar slim-necked hounds.
• Sighthounds with fine coats who are more comfortable in a padded collar.
• Other necks: we also stock the padded hound collar in size 4–5 (34–43cm).
• Not the best choice for a dog that swims or wades on most walks. Repeated soaking is hard on leather and can make the dye run, so a nylon collar copes better with water.

How to Use

• Measure around the neck where the collar will sit, usually the narrowest part just behind the head.
• Fasten the buckle so it is snug but two fingers still slide underneath, and check it cannot slip over the head.
• Turn the collar so the wide padded section sits at the front of the throat.
• Add an ID tag. In the UK, a dog in a public place must wear a collar with the owner's name and address on it or on an attached tag.

Specification

Care & Caution

• Leather is a natural, porous material, so slight differences in colour and finish are normal.
• Avoid soaking it. The natural dye can transfer when the leather is wet, which shows on a pale coat.
• If it does get wet, let it air dry naturally, away from radiators, hairdryers and other direct heat.
• Treat with a suitable leather conditioner once a year, and store somewhere dry when not in use.
• Check the stitching and buckle holes from time to time, and replace it if it is worn or damaged.
