Ancol publish no diagram of where the attachment sits on the Viva, and no count of attachment points, so check yours in the hand before you buy a lead for it: a top attachment between the shoulders wants a shorter, plainer lead so the clip does not swing against the spine, while a front attachment turns the dog and works best on a longer, softer line.

What is worth avoiding either way is an extending lead on a harness. The constant light tension pulls the webbing forward off the ribcage over a walk, which is how a well-set harness ends up slack behind the elbows by the time you get home.

How to Use

• Measure the deepest part of the chest, just behind the front legs, and check the figure sits within 60–85cm.
• Fasten the girth strap behind the elbows with the chest panel over the breastbone, then close the neck opening.
• Adjust until two fingers slide flat under the webbing, and no more.
• Match the lead to where the attachment actually sits on your harness — short and plain for a top attachment, longer and softer for a front one.
• For car use, attach a separate tether such as Ancol's ISOfix Seatbelt, item 741600, to the harness. It is not supplied here.
• Ancol publish no wash temperature; rinse in cool water and air dry away from direct heat.

Care & Caution

• Ancol sell this as an exercise and travel harness and list it under travel, but publish no crash test, no safety standard and no vehicle-restraint rating for it. Do not assume crash protection.
• Ancol describe no dedicated seatbelt loop on the harness, and no tether is included. A vehicle tether is bought separately.
• Ancol's own instruction for their ISOfix Seatbelt is that it must be attached to a suitable harness, never to a collar, and that it does not replace a crash-tested harness.
