Ancol Extreme Tyre

Ancol Tough Tyre – 21cm

A 21cm tyre from Ancol's Playtime Tough range. The open ring is the whole point of the shape: a dog can get teeth to it from any angle, pick it up off flat ground without nosing it about first, and shake it hard without it slipping. For a handler it gives a rim to hold that is nowhere near the dog's mouth, so tug stays controlled.

It floats, which puts it ahead of most tug rings for anyone who walks by water. Ancol also suggest smearing treat paste around the tyre to slow a fast dog down and turn a fetch toy into ten minutes of licking and problem-solving.

Performance & Benefits

• 21cm across, big enough for a two-handed hold and a full adult mouth.
• Floats on water, so it works at the beach, a lake or a paddling pool.
• Ring shape is easy to grab, carry and shake, and easy to lift off flat ground.
• Takes treat paste around the tyre for slower enrichment sessions.
• Serves as a fetch toy and a tug toy, so one toy covers two games.
• Supplied in widely recyclable, plastic-free packaging.

Suitable For

• Medium, large and strong dogs with a full adult mouth.
• Tug games with a handler, and retrieving on land or in water.
• Dogs that need slowing down — use it with treat paste.
• Households after one toy that covers fetch, tug and enrichment.
• Too big and heavy for puppies and toy breeds — the Ancol Tough Glow Ball at 7cm or the Ancol Playtime Ropey Knot suit a small dog better.

How to Use

• Throw for retrieve on land or into water, or hold the rim for tug.
• Smear treat paste around the tyre and let the dog work at it for enrichment.
• Wash with warm soapy water after use and allow to dry fully.
• Put it away between sessions so it stays a game rather than a chew.

Specification

• 21cm. Tyre-shaped open ring. Floats in water.
• Ancol Playtime Tough range. Product code 991507.
• Supplied in widely recyclable, plastic-free packaging.
• Ancol publish no material specification for this toy, so none is stated here — descriptions of a textured rubber surface appear on some retail listings but are not Ancol's own.

Care & Caution

• An interactive toy, not indestructible. Always supervise play.
• Check regularly for splits, tears and bite damage, and remove it at once if damaged or if pieces come away.
• Not intended to be left down for unsupervised chewing.
• Wash treat paste off after every enrichment session so it does not go sour.
