The 650g Respiratory mini puts the airway formulation into a tub you can carry to a stable, a lorry or a dusty indoor school. Horslyx put a mini at about three days for one horse, so it suits a short spell rather than a season.

Respiratory is the most heavily fortified lick in the range on antioxidants: vitamin E and vitamin C are both declared at 3,000mg per kg, against 1,200mg of vitamin E and no vitamin C in the Original. Pure menthol granules, eucalyptus oil and aniseed oil appear in the declared composition, which is what gives it its smell.

Feeding

• Horslyx give an expected intake of 250g a day for a 500kg horse, 200g for a 300kg pony and 300g for a 700kg horse.
• Horslyx put a 650g mini at roughly three days' supply for one horse.
• Stand or hold the tub; the lick is meant to be worked at slowly rather than eaten in one go.
• Introduce it slowly and monitor the intake rate; Horslyx note that consumption usually falls once a horse has got used to having a lick available.
• Feed alongside forage and fresh water. A lick supports the airways; it does not replace veterinary treatment for a horse that is coughing.

• Trace elements per kg: copper 540mg from copper (II) sulphate plus 60mg as copper chelate of glycine, zinc 1,080mg from zinc sulphate plus 120mg as zinc chelate of glycine, manganese 800mg, iodine 6mg, selenium 5mg.
