Ancol Stormguard Dog Coat – Hi-Vis, S/M (35cm back)

S/M is the half-size Ancol slot between Small and Medium, cut for a 35cm back length measured from the base of the collar to the base of the tail. It exists because a great many dogs land between 30cm and 40cm, and a coat 5cm out either way is the difference between one that stays put and one that rides up behind the shoulders.

Otherwise it is the full Stormguard: a waterproof outer over a fleece lining, a chest protector under the throat and brisket, elasticated leg straps, reflective edging tape along the seams and a zipped harness slot. The hi-vis colourway makes the dog obvious to a driver in daylight as well as in headlights.

• If your dog measures 30cm along the back take the Small, and 40cm the Medium. Measure rather than guess; these three sizes are 5cm apart and the S/M is easy to buy by mistake.

How to Use

• Measure the back length from the base of the collar to the base of the tail with the dog standing square, and order to that figure rather than to breed.
• Fasten the neck first, then the belly, then bring the elasticated straps around the hind legs.
• Leave two fingers of slack at the neck and keep the leg straps clear of the groin.
• Unzip the harness slot and pass the lead through to a harness worn underneath.
• Machine wash at 30°C and air dry naturally.

Care & Caution

• Machine wash at 30°C and air dry. Do not tumble dry or dry near direct heat; it degrades the waterproof coating.
• The zipped slot gives lead access to a harness worn beneath. Never clip a lead to the coat — nothing on a coat is load-rated.
• Hi-vis and reflective tape both rely on somebody else's light. On unlit lanes add an active light such as the Ancol Blinker Orange LED Dog Safety Light.
• Check the elasticated leg straps for rubbing behind the elbows and in the groin.
• Take the coat off indoors; a fleece-lined coat will overheat a dry, warm dog.
