Mussels at 5% over 58% whole tuna meat, with the broth at 33% — a point more than the other tuna pairings, which makes this marginally the wettest of them. Mussel is the most unusual ingredient in the tuna half of the range and gives the can a distinctly briny smell.

Like the rest of the tuna cans it is chicken-free from top to bottom. Note that the green lipped mussel Canagan declare as a glucosamine source in their dog food is a different, measured inclusion — the mussel here is a 5% food ingredient, and Canagan publish no glucosamine figure for it.

Feeding

• Canagan publish one figure for their cat cans: two to three cans a day for any adult cat.
• Canagan publish no separate kitten figure for the cans — their kitten guides cover the dry food and the 85g pouches — so feed a kitten to condition and growth.
• Canagan advise adjusting by 10% either way if your cat is carrying too much or too little condition.
• Serve at room temperature — cold from the fridge dulls the smell, and cats feed on smell.
• Cover and refrigerate an opened can and use it within a day.
