The white galley pot is the same moulded plastic hook-on cup as the rest of the range — 9.5cm wide, 7cm deep, two hooks and a rear clip — in the colour most breeders keep for show pens and for anything that needs to be seen to be clean.

Against a white pot you can see exactly what is in it and what state it is in: leftover damp mash, a scum line, droppings on the rim. That makes it the sensible choice for chicks, for medicated feed, and for any pot you want to check at a glance rather than by picking up.

How to Use

• Hook the two lugs over the mesh or cage bar and press the rear clip home so the pot cannot be knocked off.
• Hang it at the birds' back height — low enough to reach into, high enough to keep litter out.
• Fill no more than two-thirds full; a brimming pot is a pot that gets emptied onto the floor.
• Tip out and rinse in warm water with a mild detergent, and dry before refilling.
• Use a second pot for water rather than alternating one between feed and drink.
