The 500ml bottle is the smallest Pro-Equine make of Ulsa-Soothe, and it is the one to start with. At their maintenance rate of 15ml twice daily for a 500kg horse it runs to roughly sixteen days — long enough to see whether a horse responds before committing to a litre or a five litre can.

The blend is the same seven herbs at every size: aloe vera, liquorice, slippery elm, sea buckthorn, peppermint, fennel and oatseed, formulated to support natural gastric balance and everyday digestive comfort. It is also the practical size to take away with a horse, where a litre bottle is more than a weekend needs.

Feeding

• Maintenance for an average 500kg horse: 15ml twice daily.

Care & Caution

• Gastric ulceration is diagnosed by gastroscopy and treated by a vet. This is a feed supplement and is not a treatment for equine gastric ulcer syndrome.
• Contains liquorice. Pro-Equine state their products comply with FEI and HRA rules, but declare every supplement to your vet and check your own discipline's current list before competing.
• Recurrent colic, weight loss or a horse that stops eating needs veterinary attention, not a change of supplement.
