This is the richest tray Canagan make in the Petite range. Fat is declared at 12%, double the beef or lamb recipes, and moisture is the lowest at 72.5% — so there is materially more food in the tray and materially more energy in each gram. Wild boar sits at 26% alongside 39% chicken.

Boar is a darker, gamier meat than pork and is still novel to most dogs, which makes the tray useful either as a change of taste or as part of working out what a dog does and does not tolerate. It is worth noting that the recipe is chicken-led, so it is not a poultry-free option.

Feeding

• Canagan's tray allowance: 3kg dog 2–3 trays daily, 5kg 3–4, 7kg 4–5, 10kg 5–6, 12kg 6–7.
• Because this tray is denser than the rest of the range, watch condition for the first fortnight and pull the ration back by 10% if weight starts to climb.
• Introduce it over a few days, raising the proportion of new food each day.
• Serve at room temperature — a tray straight from the fridge smells of very little.
• Refrigerate once opened and use within two days.
