Canagan Petite Chicken Hotpot Pâté – 100g

Chicken Hotpot is the only tray in the Petite range built around chicory, declared at 0.4% inulin. Inulin is a prebiotic fibre: it is not digested by the dog but is fermented by the bacteria in the large intestine, which is a sensible thing to put in a food aimed at small breeds, since they are the dogs most often presented with loose motions.

Underneath that it is a straightforward 66% chicken pâté with sweet potato at 4% and a little yeast, run to 77% moisture. The smooth texture suits a small mouth, and 100g is close to a full meal for a 3kg dog rather than a garnish.

Feeding

• Canagan's guide by bodyweight: 2–3 trays daily at 3kg, 3–4 at 5kg, 4–5 at 7kg, 5–6 at 10kg and 6–7 at 12kg.
• Introduce it over a few days, raising the proportion of new food each day.
• Serve at room temperature — a tray straight from the fridge smells of very little.
• Refrigerate once opened and use within two days.
• Increase or reduce by around 10% according to condition, with water always available.
