Spillers call this a super-fast soaking sugar beet blend, and the speed is the entire point. Add one and a half times the volume of water, wait sixty seconds, and it is ready — no overnight soak, no bucket of half-fermented beet in July. For a horse that can no longer chew hay properly, that turns a fiddly feed into a routine one.

The analysis suits the horses it is aimed at: 24% fibre, 7.5% starch, 2.5% sugar and 8 MJ/kg of digestible energy, with prebiotic FOS and probiotic live yeast for hindgut support. Spillers name laminitis-prone horses, good doers, horses in light work and seniors with poor teeth as its intended users.

Feeding

• Place the required amount in a bucket, add one and a half times the volume of water, and leave 60 seconds or until fully absorbed.
• 250kg pony in light work: 1.5kg dry a day. 500kg horse in light work: 3kg dry a day.
• 500kg horse unable to eat hay or grass: up to 11.5kg dry a day, split across at least four meals.
• Introduce gradually, as with any new feed.
• Clean, fresh water at all times.

• Composition: cereal straw treated (oat & wheat, sodium), oatfeed, wheatfeed, sunflower seed meal dehulled, dried sugar beet pulp (unmolassed), rapeseed oil, calcium carbonate, rice bran, soya bean hulls dehulled, sodium chloride, oligo-fructose (0.2%), dicalcium phosphate, plus vitamins, minerals, probiotic live yeast and prebiotic FOS.
