The awkward part of a racing or performance yard is not full work — it is the weeks either side of it. A horse turned away or in pre-training still needs protein, minerals and antioxidants, but feeding it a racing mix will only get it fit in the head. This is the cube SPILLERS build for that gap: 9.4 MJ/kg, 20% fibre and starch held to 12%.

The specification is aimed squarely at coming back into work well. Lysine is enhanced for muscle, vitamin E sits at 400 iu/kg, vitamin C at 625 mg/kg, and the zinc, copper and manganese are chelated so they are absorbed rather than passed through. It carries NOPS BETA approval, which matters for anything running under rules.

Feeding

• 500kg horse on box rest: 3kg daily, divided into at least two meals, plus forage.
• 500kg horse in pre-training: 3–5kg daily, divided into at least three meals, plus forage.
• A level Stubbs scoop holds approximately 1.8kg.
• Introduce gradually and adjust to bodyweight, condition and workload.
• Keep clean fresh water available at all times.
