SPILLERS High Fibre Cubes – 20kg

A blend of concentrated fibres with prebiotics and probiotics, built for the horse that puts weight on looking at a hedge. At 8.4 MJ/kg of digestible energy and free from whole cereals, it gives a good doer something to eat and a full vitamin and mineral profile without the calories of a conditioning feed.

The part most people miss is that these cubes soak. SPILLERS publish a rate for a 500kg horse that can no longer manage hay, grass or chopped fibre at all — 11.5kg a day, soaked to a mash and split across at least four meals — which turns a bag of cubes into a complete forage replacement for a horse with worn-out teeth.

Feeding

• 250kg pony: 1.5kg daily, divided into at least two meals, alongside forage.
• 500kg horse: 3kg daily, divided into at least two meals, alongside forage.
• 500kg horse unable to eat forage: 11.5kg daily, soaked as a mash and divided into at least four meals.
• To soften, soak the cubes in water until they break down to a mash before feeding.
• Introduce gradually over a week or two, as with any change of feed, and keep clean fresh water available.

Care & Caution

• Fed as a full forage replacement at 11.5kg a day, it must be split across at least four meals. One or two very large mashes a day is a colic risk.
• Soaked feed ferments quickly in warm weather. Make each mash up fresh and throw away anything left in the bucket.
• A horse that bolts its feed can choke on dry cubes. Soak them for any horse with poor teeth or a history of choke.
