SPILLERS Happy Hoof Molasses Free – 20kg

This is the version of Happy Hoof with the molasses taken out and the sugar down to 1.25%, which is about as low as a chopped fibre gets. Fibre rises to 28% and oil to 4%, so the bucket is bulkier and the calories come from oil and fibre rather than from anything that will spike insulin.

It is also the Happy Hoof that carries Laminitis Trust approval in SPILLERS' current product guide — an independent accreditation with a defined sugar and starch threshold, not a marketing line. Biotin is unchanged at 5mg per kilo, so the hoof support is the same as the original blend.

Suitable For

• Horses and ponies prone to laminitis, where the Laminitis Trust mark is the reason for choosing it.
• Insulin dysregulated and EMS horses, on veterinary direction.
• Good doers that still need a bucket feed and something to chew.
• Hoof support alongside a strictly low-sugar diet.
• Not necessary for a horse in regular work with no metabolic history — SPILLERS Happy Hoof, the molassed blend, is the cheaper and more palatable choice there.

Feeding

• 250kg pony: 1.5kg a day, in at least two feeds, with a minimum of 4kg hay or 5–6kg haylage.
• 500kg horse: 3kg a day, in at least two feeds, with a minimum of 7.5kg hay or 9–11kg haylage.
• 350kg pony with no grazing or hay: 5.5–7kg a day, split into three or more smaller feeds.
• Introduce gradually, over a week or two, in place of the previous fibre.
• SPILLERS ask that severely insulin dysregulated cases are discussed with their Care-Line first.

Composition & Analysis

• Composition: cereal straw (wheat and oat, sodium treated), dehulled sunflower seed meal, chopped straw (wheat and oat), oatfeed, lucerne, wheatfeed, rapeseed oil, calcium carbonate, dehulled soya bean hulls (genetically modified), sodium chloride, magnesium oxide, garlic 0.1%, plus added vitamins and minerals.
• Typical analysis: digestible energy 8.8 MJ/kg, protein 9.0%, oil 4.0%, fibre 28.0%, starch 1.5%, sugar 1.25%.
• Per kg: biotin 5.0mg, vitamin A 10,000 iu, vitamin E 200 iu, copper 20mg, zinc 100mg.
• 20kg bag. Laminitis Trust approved and BETA NOPS approved.
• Contains genetically modified soya bean hulls, which SPILLERS declare on the composition.

Care & Caution

• Laminitis Trust approval means the blend meets a sugar and starch threshold — it does not make a laminitic horse safe to feed without veterinary direction, and it does not license unlimited amounts.
• The hay and haylage minimums above are part of SPILLERS' feeding instruction. Do not cut forage to compensate for the bucket feed.
• SPILLERS specifically ask that severely insulin dysregulated horses are discussed with their Care-Line before this feed is introduced.
• Change fibre over 7–14 days, not overnight.
