At 60 x 50cm the Medium Alpine is the smallest of the three, sized for a spaniel, a terrier or a small crossbreed that curls rather than sprawls. The champagne colourway is a warm off-white, and the pile is thick-cut faux fur rather than the short plush used on cheaper box beds, so it keeps its loft after a few washes instead of matting flat.

Scruffs give the Medium a wall height of 16cm. The bolster runs right round the bed, which is what a dog that sleeps with its chin on the edge is actually after, and it blocks the draught that crosses a kitchen floor. The base is non-slip, so the bed stays put on tiles or laminate.

How to Use

• Stand the bed on a level floor with the non-slip base down, out of a through-draught.
• Shake the bed out by the sides every few days to lift the fur and redistribute the fill.
• Gentle machine wash at 30 degrees with a mild detergent.
• Do not bleach and do not tumble dry — dry the bed flat.
• Scruffs warn that colour transfer may occur, particularly while the bed is still wet, so dry it away from pale carpet or upholstery.
• Keep the bed away from open fires and heaters.
