Pure Veteran Mix – Soft Chop Senior Feed, 15kg

Pure Veteran Mix is a soft-chop complete feed for horses whose gut has become less efficient with age. Vitamin and mineral levels are lifted above the rest of the range to offset that reduced absorption, and the chop is cut short and soft so a horse with worn teeth can still manage it — dry or soaked, whichever suits the horse.

Energy is slow-release, coming from rapeseed oil, linseed and unmolassed sugar beet flakes rather than grain, at 10 MJ/kg. Protein is 14% and easily digestible, which matters for an old horse losing topline. Starch is 4% and naturally occurring sugar 6%, a combined 10%, and on that basis Pure state it can be fed to older horses that have previously had laminitis.

• Senior horses, whether retired or still in regular work.
• Older horses struggling to hold condition through the winter.
• Horses with reduced chewing ability that can still manage a soft chop.

• A horse that can no longer chew at all needs a soaked mash rather than a chop — Pure Meadow Mash covers that, though check its starch figure first.

Feeding

• Feed 400–600g per 100kg bodyweight per day — 2–3kg for a 500kg horse.
• Adjust within that range for condition and workload.
• Feed dry or soaked; soaking helps horses with poor dentition.
• Split the daily ration across at least two feeds.
• Feed alongside forage the horse can actually manage, with fresh water always available.

• Composition: grass pellets, grass chaff, oatstraw chaff, oatfeed pellets, unmolassed sugar beet flakes, rapeseed oil, wheatfeed, sunflower extract, dark distiller grains, full fat linseed meal, vitamins and minerals, limestone, di-calcium phosphate, fructo-oligosaccharides, sodium chloride and Vistacell yeast.
