Gut Balancer is the everyday one in Protexin's equine range: an alfalfa-meal powder carrying their Saccharomyces cerevisiae probiotic at 1 x 10¹² CFU/kg alongside the Preplex prebiotic, fed at 10g a day. The point of it is unglamorous and sound — keep the hindgut population stable so the horse gets more out of the forage it is already eating.

Protexin claim it supports digestive function and efficiency, helps release safe calories from fibre, and maintains a balanced microbiota. That is deliberately modest language and it is worth keeping it that way: it is a daily feed supplement for general wellbeing, not a treatment for colic, diarrhoea or ulceration. At 10g a day the 400g tub runs about forty days.
