A cereal-based stud feed at an estimated 11.5 MJ/kg with 15% protein, aimed at warmbloods, natives and the sort of mare that holds condition without much help. It sits between a full stud mix and a straight balancer: enough calories to carry a mare through late pregnancy and lactation, but concentrated enough that an easy keeper does not need a large bucket of it.

The formulation is built around skeletal development, which is the thing that matters most in a growing horse and the thing most easily got wrong. Key amino acids and a balanced calcium and phosphorus supply support bone and soft tissue, MOS and FOS prebiotics with ActiSaf live yeast keep the hindgut fermenting properly, and the mineral package extends to hoof support.

Feeding

• Mares in early pregnancy: 300–500g per 100kg bodyweight per day.
• Mares in late pregnancy and lactation: 500–700g per 100kg bodyweight per day.
• Youngstock: 600g–1kg per 100kg bodyweight per day.
• Do not exceed 1kg per 100kg bodyweight per day in total, divided into two to three meals.
• Maintain a minimum forage intake of 2kg per 100kg bodyweight per day.

Care & Caution

• Growth rate in youngstock should be steady rather than fast. Overfeeding a concentrate at this energy level is a known risk factor for developmental orthopaedic disease.
• A cereal-based feed. Not appropriate for a laminitic mare.
